CM Punk reveals his “selfish motivation” for recent WWE decision

CM Punk revealed his selfish motivation for a recent decision he made in WWE. The veteran is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion on SmackDown.

In a vlog shared today on YouTube, CM Punk revealed why he performed at NXT live events earlier this month. The Second City Saint shared that he had a selfish motivation for competing at the shows. He noted that he wanted to wrestle more and suggested that he was better the more he performed in the ring.

“There’s a very selfish motivation for me being here. I want to stay ready. Yes, I’m the champion. Yes, I wrestle on television. But to me, I don’t wrestle often enough. I need more reps. I think I’m better the more often I wrestle. There is an element of giving back though, obviously. I have great respect for this business, and I’m just following in the footsteps of the people who came before me. Hopefully somebody watches and learns and observes from me and they can pay it forward when they have the opportunity to do so,” said CM Punk. (H/T: WrestlingHeadlines)

The 47-year-old successfully defended his title against Kevin Owens this past Friday night on WWE SmackDown. Sami Zayn got involved in the match and hit Owens over the head with the title. Punk then connected with the GTS for the pinfall victory to remain champion.

Former WWE star ends beef with CM Punk

Wrestling veteran Ryback shared a video on social media and suggested that his issues with CM Punk were over.

In the video, The Big Guy complimented Punk for being in great shape and claimed that he no longer held a grudge against the popular WWE star.

“No, I don’t hold on to any hate with that name. I’ve said what I needed to say on it. He said what he said on it. It doesn’t make sense to hold on to that forever. Now, that doesn’t mean that we’ll ever be friends. It doesn’t mean we’ll work together, anything like that. It just means that it doesn’t serve me to hold on to that hate … It’s all over with … I’m happy for him on everything. I’m happy he’s back … I’m happy everything’s cool. I think he looks great. I’m happy for him that he’s gotten in better shape and whatever he’s doing is working,” Ryback said.

It will be interesting to see which WWE star challenges CM Punk for the title next.
