Phoenix Suns star Dillon Brooks has an interesting approach in the offseason. The team’s official X page posted photos of Brooks’ training. It looked familiar to some fans, and they started comparing him to San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
Brooks had a Shaolin-inspired training ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. It’s not the first time they’ve seen an NBA player take this specific approach. Last summer, Wembanyama went viral for visiting China and doing the particular offseason training.
Thanks for the submission!
Brooks spent time training with a bo staff and a sword, which were posted by the Suns on social media.

Dillon Brooks Comments on the Suns’ Moves This Offseason
The Suns were active in free agency after they were swept in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the OKC Thunder. This summer, the team added Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard. The front office also re-signed Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams and Jordan Goodwin.
Ahead of the new season, Dillon Brooks raves about the addition of Bridges and Kennard.
“I think we added some shooting, some spacing with both of those guys, and then some athleticism as well,” Brooks said. “We can interchange lineups. Miles helps that, acquiring him, and we get a little more youthful. So I’m excited. Can’t wait to start.”
Brooks also said that the Suns have become a more versatile defensive team after adding the two new players. Additionally, he pointed out that Kennard’s elite long-range skills will be a massive help for Phoenix.
Dillon Brooks also shared that he lost some weight after the Suns traded for Bridges. According to Brooks, he can slide into the small forward spot and not worry about playing power forward.
