Sony and World Athletics have announced the inclusion of new broadcasting technologies in the inaugural edition of the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, which will be held from September 11 to 13 in Budapest.
The main novelty will be an optical tracking technology that will allow recreating the finishes of sprint events through three-dimensional graphics (3DCG). The aim is to offer spectators a new perspective on those finishes that are decided in just a few hundredths of a second.
These images will be integrated into the competition’s international feed, reaching more than 30 major television operators worldwide. Additionally, Hawk-Eye Innovations, a company of the Sony group, will provide its video replay system to assist judges in making decisions.
The agreement makes Sony a global official partner of the Ultimate Championship and is part of World Athletics’ commitment to incorporating new technologies and formats to present athletics.
