After more than three decades, A.S.O., the organizer of the Tour de France, stops organizing the Paris Marathon. And with the new leadership come major changes for the 2027 edition which will take place on the upcoming Sunday, April 4. It will also be the 50th edition of the 42,195 km in the French capital, with a new principal sponsor: the Japanese brand ASICS.
For the first time the Paris Marathon of 2027 is going to implement a lottery to obtain a bib, following other major marathons such as New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, or Valencia. The slots will no longer go to the fastest to sign up.
The deadline to enter the bib lottery is now open and closes on September 30. Entering the lottery is free. Runners who secure a spot will receive an email starting on October 1 and will then have 72 hours to confirm their participation and pay 169 euros, which is the bib price.
The organizers have considered the issue of those who only want to participate if they can run and share the trip with family or friends. Therefore, bibs can be requested in groups of two to six people and, if one of the names is selected, all group members will receive the bib.
Another novelty is that you will be able to obtain a bib through a charitable cause. Registration through a charity requires you to raise at least 420 euros for a charitable cause and once this requirement is met, you pay the registration fee which is reduced to 85 euros. In total, 60,000 runners will participate.
