Michael Penix Jr. has arrived for the biggest game of his 2026 campaign so far, and fans are not liking how he entered.
On Monday, ahead of a primetime game against the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was spotted wearing a black shirt, suit, and shoes as he arrived at the Caesars Superdome. He was also dragging a black bag and suitcase:
Thanks for the submission!

Much ridicule ensued:

“All black and no durag yeah he’s going for 50,” one predicted.
“Pre hosting a funeral for his knees,” another presaged.
“What is that velvet?! My boy in John Wick mode,” another compared.
“Penix in primetime is just Kirk Cousins with better hair,” read an analogy.
“Can barely walk,” one pointed out.
“He is so (expletive),” another yawned.
The game marks Penix’s first start inside the Superdome. When asked about what he thought of it during media availability on Thursday, he said:
“It’s a nice dome. That’s probably like the only nice thing I can say about them.”
He continued:
“It’s going to be real loud, and it’s going to be great, it’s going to be awesome. We’re going to go out there and accept the challenge and go out there and just compete our tails off to find a way to get a win. It’s definitely going to be rowdy.”
Rob Gronkowski apologized to Michael Penix Jr., Falcons over wrong prediction
During the preseason, the Falcons were predicted to be among the NFL’s worst teams, and it was seemingly validated when they lost their first two games with Cooper Rush under center.
But then Michael Penix Jr. got the nod for Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers and masterminded a shocking 35-14 win at Lambeau Field, overcoming an interception on the opening drive to finish with 256 yards and a touchdown to Austin Hooper.
That performance led to this apology from Rob Gronkowski on last Friday’s episode of Up & Adams:
“I thought the Atlanta Falcons that they had a good chance of going like 0-16, 0-17 this year. I misread Michael Penix Jr. I felt like just watching the first two games that he was in the same category as, like, Cooper Rush, but I forgot he is a pretty solid quarterback and he is a starter in this NFL. If he can just stay healthy, the Atlanta Falcons then have a chance.”
Kickoff for the Falcons-Saints game is at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN.
