Former Golden State Warriors big man James Wiseman has not been in the NBA since Dec. 26, 2025. The last team he played for was the Indiana Pacers, where he signed a 10-day contract. He started the 2025-26 season with the team but was waived to open up a roster spot for Mac McClung.

After playing only four games, he hasn’t been with another NBA team since. With his basketball career on hold, Wiseman has turned to alternative means of earning a living. On Monday, a video of him rapping was posted online, and it was a major topic among fans on X.

His attempt at starting a rap career drew mixed reviews, however. Here are some of what the fans said about it.

James Wiseman Comments on His Achilles Injury

James Wiseman never lived up to the hype of being the No. 2 pick in 2020. A lot was expected from him, as many thought he would take over for the Warriors once Steph Curry and Draymond Green reach the twilight years of their careers. However, injuries derailed his career, and he’s viewed as a draft bust by most fans.

During the 2024-25 season, Wiseman suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon injury. This led to him being traded to the Toronto Raptors ahead of the trade deadline. During an interview with The Athletic’s Joe Vardon on March 2, the former Memphis big man revealed his experience dealing with such an injury.

“I feel like this was a test to see where I was at,” Wiseman said. “The torn Achilles stuff is serious, and it’s more of a mental grind than anything, but just being able through that whole process and stay resilient and then like seeing like how I was moving… you usually don’t come back the same, so being able to move really well and be able to feel like myself this week was really important.”

Although he hasn’t played in the NBA for some time, James Wiseman has an opportunity to reboot his career with USA Basketball.
