Brentford welcome West Ham United to the G-Tech Stadium this Saturday for a London derby that could be absolutely crucial at both ends of the Premier League.
Brentford are still chasing an unlikely European qualification berth under boss Keith Andrews, and depending on other results, a win here could propel them into the top six.
Thanks for the submission!
West Ham, meanwhile, are desperate for points at the other end of the table. Right now they’re 17th, one spot above the drop zone, but a win here could put them five points ahead of Spurs in the fight for survival.
Therefore, this is a match with big stakes.
Brentford vs West Ham United Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Brentford are unbeaten against West Ham in Premier League action since February 2024, and more worryingly for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, the Hammers have never won a Premier League match at the G-Tech.
- While Brentford’s league place is impressive, they are actually on their longest winless run of the season right now. The Bees have not won any of their last six league games, although they’ve only lost one of them too. Moreover, they have not won at home since January 7th.
- West Ham, meanwhile, are unbeaten in three, sandwiching a draw with Crystal Palace between wins over Wolves and Everton. Remarkably, this represents their joint-best run this season, as they have yet to go four league matches unbeaten.
- Only Erling Haaland has scored more Premier League goals than Brentford’s Igor Thiago this season, as the Brazilian boasts a haul of 21. However, he has only scored three times in league action since the beginning of March, marking a dry period for him.
- While West Ham’s results have picked up in recent months, their goal difference remains very poor, and at -16, is worse than any other side apart from relegated Burnley and Wolves. The majority of this is down to their poor defence – the Hammers have conceded 58 goals, and have only kept five clean sheets all season. It’s worth noting, though, that four of those clean sheets have come away from home.
Brentford vs West Ham United Prediction
This match could be crucial in deciding the fate of both of these teams, and in fairness, West Ham are coming in on better form, with two wins in their last three.
However, the Hammers may find things hard here. Brentford have only failed to score in five of their 17 home matches and have plundered 28 goals at the G-Tech, which makes for good reading against a side who’ve conceded 58 goals.
West Ham will undoubtedly put up a fight, they’re desperate for points, but equally, Brentford looked good in defeat against Manchester United last week and will be itching to put things right here.
The prediction, then, is a narrow home win.
Prediction: Brentford 2-1 West Ham United
