As The Witcher 3 Remastered is set to release, the download size is one of the details that you will want to consider before launch. However, CD Projekt Red has officially revealed the expected storage consumption of every port, and the majority are staying relatively consistent.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will notably take up slightly more space, while the existing owners of the game have yet another reason to care – as the remaster will apparently come as a free upgrade.
The Witcher 3 Remastered download sizes on every platform
CD Projekt Red Global Community and Social Media Director Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) shared the expected file sizes on X after receiving questions about how much space The Witcher 3 Remastered would require.
- PC (Steam): 45 GB
- PlayStation 5: 45 GB
- Xbox Series X/S: 45 GB
- Nintendo Switch 2: 50 GB
The Steam version’s download size “may vary depending on installed language packs,” which makes the 45 GB standard download size a rounded figure. Otherwise, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are also expected to consume about 45 GB of space, and the Switch 2 version will take up slightly more, about 50 GB.
It is also worth noting that the Switch 2 release will apparently come as a separate product, as opposed to the other platforms.
The Witcher 3 Remastered release date and upgrade details

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered is set to launch on September 29, 2026. The announcement came during Gamescom 2026, confirming releases for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Furthermore, everyone who owns a copy of the original game will not have to buy the remaster, as it will apparently come as a free upgrade – which further emphasizes the importance of the storage consumption data.
However, Songs of the Past DLC will not be included with the remastered release. Instead, the DLC will instead lead into the game’s next stage of post-launch content and is tied to the third expansion pass.
What to expect with The Witcher 3 Remastered

The overall quality of the experience is being improved in multiple ways, with the combat being refined, the controls enhanced, and the traversal made more accessible and enjoyable – including the introduction of better Roach controls.
The monsters’ behaviors have also been tweaked, and new features such as Transmogrification, the new Skill Tree, an upgraded Photo Mode, upgraded Witcher Signs FX, and Finishing Animations, etc are also arriving.
