Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston has reportedly signed the richest contract in WNBA history. According to ESPN insider Shams Charania on Friday, Boston signed a four-year, $6.3 million contract extension under the new EPIC (exceptional players on initial contracts) provision.
The extension replaced Boston’s fourth-year rookie-scale contract for the upcoming season. According to Fever insider Chloe Peterson on Friday, she will now earn $1 million, which is 20% of the salary cap. The three-time WNBA All-Star is now under contract through the 2029 season.
Several fans on X reacted to Boston’s contract and speculated that her teammate, Caitlin Clark, will earn even more. Clark is set to be eligible for the EPIC provision in 2027.
“No bulls**t Caitlin Clark might get 10 mil if this what Aliyah Boston getting,” one fan tweeted.
Here are other reactions:
EPIC is a provision under the new CBA wherein stars on rookie-scale contracts have a path to earn a maximum salary earlier. Boston qualified for the EPIC provision because she was selected to the All-WNBA second team last season.
