Manchester United legend Roy Keane has refused to change his prediction about Arsenal winning the Premier League, despite the Gunners’ loss on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s men succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad to make it back-to-back losses in the Premier League.
In what has been tipped as the title-decider, Manchester City took the lead after an incredible solo goal from Rayan Cherki in 16th minute. However, just two minutes later, Kai Havertz chased Gianluigi Donnarumma down to find the equaliser after an error by the hosts’ goalkeeper.
Thanks for the submission!
Erling Haaland sealed three points for Manchester City in the 65th minute. The win now means that Pep Guardiola’s team can be at the top of the table on goal difference, if they beat Burnley on Wednesday.
After the Gunners’ loss, pundits in the Sky Sports Studio were asked about their predictions on the title race. All of Patrick Vieira, Micah Richards and Gary Neville leaned towards Manchester City, but Keane was having none of it.
The former Manchester United captain acknowledged the fact that the belief about Arteta’s team going all the way is not as strong as it was before. But he still thinks they can do it.
Keane commented:
“I don’t care. I’m going to stick with Arsenal. No doubt that belief is not as strong as it was before the game. But I’m going to have to stick with them because I called them [to win it] from the start of the season.”
Arsenal next face Newcastle United at the Emirates on Saturday. They have lost four of their last six games in all competitions and desperately need a response.
Wayne Rooney urges Arsenal fans to do better if they want to beat Manchester City to the title
In the wake of the Gunners’ defeat at the Etihad, Wayne Rooney has urged their fans to do better in the coming weeks. The Manchester United legend pointed to how these fans booed their own team at the Emirates, where the north Londoners lost to Bournemouth, a week before the defeat by City.
Rooney said on the Wayne Rooney Show (as per the BBC):
“I think the fans need to be better. I saw them booing the team off the other day (against Bournemouth). Arsenal have been brilliant all season and they’ve hit a little bad run of form. They need to understand how much the fan support means to the players and how much it can help you.

Earlier, Rooney predicted that Arsenal would win the Premier League title this season despite their recent wobble in form.
