Manchester United are now prioritising a deal to sign Karim Adeyemi, who has already held talks to sign for another Premier League side this summer.
Man Utd prioritising Adeyemi deal
Despite rebuilding their frontline last summer, welcoming Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, Man United are still looking to add the finishing touches 12 months later.
INEOS look likely to back the Red Devils on that front for a second time in two seasons, having splashed the cash with much success last summer.
If Man United are to push on again next season, then repeating last summer’s recruitment success will be the key – starting with Adeyemi.
According to reports in Germany, relayed by TeamTalk, Man United are now prioritising a deal to sign Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, making the forward their top target.
Valued at around €70m (£61m) by Dortmund, the impressive forward won’t come cheap, but could quickly prove to be worth every penny if it means getting one over on Chelsea.
The Blues have already held talks with Adeyemi’s agent over a potential deal, with Man United’s interest now likely to spark an all-Premier League race.
£61m Adeyemi could replace Mbeumo
The biggest concern that Man United should have right now is the form of Mbeumo. After an impressive start, the former Brentford man has scored just once in his last 10 Premier League games. It’s the type of form that will cost him his place if Adeyemi arrives this summer.
Dubbed “incredible” by former Red Bull Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle, the German has been involved in 15 goals in all competitions this season, doing enough to earn interest from England as a result.
- Adeyemi has matched Mbeumo for goals this season (10)
- The Dortmund star has also created more goals than the Man Utd winger
- Only eight Bundesliga players have clocked a quicker speed than Adeyemi’s 35.78 km/h this season
The Red Devils’ frontline has already been refreshingly clinical this season, but the addition of Adeyemi would complete INEOS’ rebuild once and for all.
Carrick “proud” of Chelsea victory
As transfer rumours continue to arrive, Michael Carrick remains focused on securing Champions League football. Saturday’s win at Stamford Bridge, without three of his main central defenders, is one that he was certainly “proud” of and represented another memorable evening in his interim spell.
Carrick can finally drop Mbeumo by unleashing Man Utd’s new Anthony Martial
Bryan Mbeumo’s run of games without a goal for Manchester United continues.
Pleased with his side, Carrick told reporters: “It was an important win for us tonight in different ways, coming through the suspensions and the injuries, Lenny pulling out quite late and having to adapt.
“The boys take so much credit for that. And the coaches in terms of putting the plan together and adapting over the last couple of days.
“There’s a lot of things to be proud of tonight. We can play a little bit better at times, but I thought it was a game for a result and we managed to find it.”
