Fabrizio Romano reveals Andoni Iraola’s dream move in Man United and Chelsea update

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what Andoni Iraola‘s ‘dream’ move would be after departing Bournemouth, with Man United and Chelsea both getting an update on the Spaniard.

Andoni Iraola set to leave with Chelsea and Man United linked

One of the biggest developments of the summer is the confirmed departure of Iraola.

After guiding the club through another strong Premier League campaign, Iraola has decided to move on at the end of the season, opening the door to interest from bigger clubs.

Bournemouth have been competitive throughout the campaign and remain firmly in the hunt for Europe, showing clear identity and structure under his leadership.

That has made Iraola one of the most talked-about coaches heading into the managerial merry-go-round.

It is no surprise, then, that United and Chelsea have been linked with him.

INEOS are eyeing a Michael Carrick alternative.

Both clubs are navigating uncertain situations of their own, with long-term direction still being assessed behind the scenes.

United have been on an upward trajectory since Michael Carrick was brought in as a temporary stop-gap to replace Ruben Amorim, with the Old Trafford legend guiding them to within touching distance of Champions League football.

That has made Carrick a top contender for the hot seat full-time, giving Iraola stiff competition for the job.

Chelsea’s situation has been more unsettled.

The ex-Spurs star says it is a major achilles heel.

The London side have endured an inconsistent run, struggling to string together results and undergoing another period of transition in the dugout after sacking Liam Rosenior.

Against that backdrop, transfer expert Romano has shed light on Iraola’s thinking and the current state of play.

Fabrizio Romano shares Andoni Iraola update for Chelsea and Man United

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that Iraola has a dream of continuing in England at a top side, but nothing is advanced just yet with either the Red Devils or Chelsea.

“Iraola has this dream of continuing in the Premier League, and in England, at the highest level possible,” said Romano.

“This is why he is linked to Man United, this is why he is linked to Chelsea.

“But my understanding, at the moment with Chelsea, still nothing advanced or decided.

“On Man United, they’re obviously, internally taking care of the process to assess all of the potential candidates.”

Those comments underline the situation clearly.

Iraola is very keen to stay in England and stepping up to a bigger role, but there is no immediate breakthrough with either club.

For Chelsea, the key point is that no final decision has been made. The club are still weighing up multiple options, and while Iraola is admired, there is no agreement or advanced negotiation at this stage.

That leaves the door open for other candidates to emerge as the process continues, with Chelsea apparently speaking to Xabi Alonso’s camp this week.

At United, the approach appears more methodical.

Rather than rushing into a decision, the club are taking time to review a range of potential managers, but Carrick is widely believed to be the frontrunner right now.

What happens next will likely depend on timing as much as preference.

With the ‘elite‘ Iraola set to become available, interest is expected to intensify once the season concludes. Both clubs will need to decide quickly if they see him as the right fit.

For now, the situation remains open.

Iraola’s exit from Bournemouth has put him firmly in the spotlight, but United and Chelsea are still in assessment mode.

The coming weeks will determine whether that interest turns into something more concrete.
