Everton and Aston Villa are keen on signing a Championship forward this summer, and his club are now willing to sanction a move.
Toffees eyeing new forward after Moyes takes aim at Ndiaye
It has been a very disappointing end to the season for the Toffees, falling out of European contention after failing to win any of their last six matches, and David Moyes criticised Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after the 3-1 defeat against Sunderland last time out.
“I think Ili especially has had big opportunities in a few of the games, which in the past we’ve seen him score. he scored a great goal against Chelsea here. But since then, we’ve had quite a lot of opportunities in games and we’ve not been able to take them to win games, which we’ve needed.
“As you know, we’ve not been overly generous with our centre-forward goals so, it’s been Kiernan and Iliman who’ve been required to step up for us mainly. Both have sort of just dried up in the last month or so.”
Ndiaye is without a Premier League goal since the 3-0 victory against Chelsea at the back end of March, whereas Dewsbury-Hall hasn’t been able to register a goal or an assist in his last three matches.
As such, Moyes may need some more attacking firepower if his side are going to sustain a push for Europe next season, and a Championship forward has now emerged as a summer target.
Everton enter race to sign “incredible” Leicester City star
According to a report from Sports Boom, Everton are now keen on signing Leicester City star Abdul Fatawu, who is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Fulham, alongside a number of clubs from across Europe.
However, Fatawu wants to remain in England, and a deal wouldn’t break the bank, with Leicester aware they have to cash-in after being relegated from the Championship, and a £20m transfer fee has been touted.
Despite the Foxes dropping to the third tier after a dismal campaign, journalist Bence Bocsak has suggested the right-winger is good enough to make the step-up to the Premier League, saying: “Abdul Fatawu has an incredible ability to score absolute world-class goals.
“Such an entertaining footballer. Far too good to be playing in the Championship.”
Earlier this season, the 22-year-old scored a remarkable goal from distance in his side’s 3-1 victory against Ipswich Town.
Throughout his time at Leicester, Fatawu has remained a reliable source of goals and assists, amassing 39 goal involvements in 100 appearances, and he could be an exciting signing for Everton.
