The negotiations between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers were drawn out in a classic “will-he-won’t-he,” Rodgers fashion.
But 126 days after he and the Steelers limped out of the AFC Wild Card with a 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans that resulted in the departure of Mike Tomlin, Rodgers is officially returning to the Steel City.
Rodgers signed a one-year contract to play at least one more season in a reunion with his former Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy. The pair worked together from 2006-18, winning a Super Bowl in 2010 and with Rodgers winning two MVPs with McCarthy on the sideline.
But as many such relationships do, things got stale between McCarthy and Rodgers in Green Bay and he was fired after Week 13 of the 2018 campaign. Since then, Rodgers won another two MVPs in Wisconsin, but has started to show his 42 years of age. While he did start 16 games last season, he posted his fewest passing yards (3,322), touchdowns (24) and yards-per-completion (10.2) of any of his 15 full seasons as a starter.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. If this is the final season for Rodgers, he’ll retire as one of the most decorated quarterbacks in NFL history, highlighted by his four-career Most Valuable Player awards. With that being said, how many of the NFL MVPs can you name in nine minutes?
Good luck!
