It looks increasingly likely that Gleison Bremer has played his final game for Juventus, with Liverpool‘s interest sparking major exit concerns in Italy.
Liverpool targeting defensive upgrades
As questions continue to arrive over Arne Slot‘s future, Liverpool are looking to show their backing for the Dutchman in the forthcoming transfer window.
FSG already spent big last summer, smashing their transfer record twice to welcome Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, but have watched their side plummet to as low as fifth ever since. Whilst that will be enough for Champions League qualification, it is not enough to reach Liverpool’s high standards.

More change is needed and that change could start with an additional central defender. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are targeting a move to sign Bremer from Juventus this summer.
The Brazilian is reportedly on the verge of leaving the Turin club. This means that he has likely played his last game for Juve after receiving a suspension ahead of the final day of the campaign, spoiling any fitting farewell.
Bremer, himself, is ready to complete a move to a club fighting for the highest honours, with both Manchester United and Liverpool battling for his signature as a result.
With Ibrahima Konate edging closer and closer to becoming a free agent, Liverpool must act with plenty of urgency at the start of the transfer window.
Liverpool fans, is Bremer good enough to replace Konate this summer?
Despite the Frenchman’s disappointing form this season, losing a player of his calibre at the same time that there is so much uncertainty would still represent a major blow. It’s why 29-year-old Bremer would be a solid option to turn to this summer.
“Best in the world” Bremer could replace Konate
Take Konate away from this side and Liverpool are left with Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is up next year, the injury-prone Joe Gomez, and young defenders Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet. It’s far from ideal.
By adding Bremer, Anfield chiefs would be welcoming some much-needed experience to their backline, even if he finds himself behind Leoni or Jacquet in the pecking order. The Reds know more than most just how important defensive depth can become in the Premier League.
The Juventus star has certainly earned high praise during his time in Italy, too. Former manager Igor Tudor went as far as to name the centre-back “the best in the world” in his position a few years ago. Now, he has the chance to prove that status next to Van Dijk.

As a duo, Bremer and Van Dijk could compliment each other well. Where the Liverpool captain doesn’t tend to recover possession at a high rate, Bremer thrives in that area. Likewise, Van Dijk has far better duel success than the Juventus man. They would solve each other’s weaknesses.
Whether Liverpool turn their interest into a serious move is now the big question ahead of the summer.
