Tekashi 6ix9ine has slammed Drake and Lil Durk, referencing their 2020 diss towards him. He claimed that God is punishing the two rappers for taking digs at him on the track Laugh Now Cry Later.
Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, and Drizzy released the song, Laugh Now Cry Later, in 2020. In it, they took multiple indirect digs towards Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez. At the time, Hernandez was having spats with multiple rappers and celebrities.
Banks rapped on the song:
“Can you not play that lil’ boy in the club? ‘Cause we do not listen to rats.”
Hernandez has now opened up about it and the legal troubles that Drizzy and Lil Durk have been facing in recent years. In an interview on VladTV, released on May 20, he said:
“I want to end with this. I could be wrong, but I’m gonna say it. God has showed me that he’s real. Someone I never in my life thought that the world would turn against him and f*ckin’ clown him on a worldly level was Drake. I thought Drake was the most loved, he’s Black, he’s Jewish. The best combination in the world. For real. I never thought—Drake could literally do no wrong.”
6ix9ine also cited some Bible verses in the interview and added:
“That same year, Durk gets arrested for murder-for-hire. The name of their song in 2020 when they dissed me was ‘Laugh Now Cry Later.’ If you were facing murder-for-hire, and two of your best friends were cooperating, what would you be doing? Would you be happy?”
Notably, Lil Durk has been in prison for an alleged murder-for-hire case. He was arrested in October 2024 after Lul Pap was killed in a shooting. Prosecutors allege that Durk had plotted against rapper Quando Rondo, but his cousin, Lul Pap, was killed instead.
6ix9ine also referenced Drake and Lil Durk’s song against him in April

Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from prison in April this year after he turned himself in for three months after violating the terms of his previous release. After getting out, he did a stream with popular streamers Adin Ross and N3on.
The rapper took digs at Durk, among other rappers, saying (h/t Hot New Hip Hop):
“I’ve learned that everybody who has talked sh*t about me has an opinion until they’re in your situation. Pooh Shiesty is now in a situation, Gucci Mane is now in a situation, Lil Durk is now in a situation.”
He referenced Durk and Drake’s song, Laugh Now Cry Later, and added:
“Who is laughing now and crying later? You see how the same thing they threw at me?”
Durk, meanwhile, has been in jail for over two years. His trial was earlier scheduled for April, but has now been delayed until August this year.
Drake, meanwhile, has been dealing with legal issues of his own. He sued UMG for allegedly promoting Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us to defame him. However, the case was dismissed last year. The rapper is also facing some federal lawsuits for promoting crypto-gambling.
