    Sanju Samson (55) then took charge of the scoring in the middle and death overs as he batted aggressively along with cautious mindset to help the team post huge total of 203/5. In the bowling department, Trent Boult drew first blood and laid the platform for RR bowlers as he ran through the top orders with his lethal bowling. Yuzvendra Chahal took care of the rest by picking four wickets after the powerplay. RR would look to carry the winning momentum going into the next game.

    Punjab Kings, on the other hand, also began the tournament with a bang against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Punjab Kings started the game with a 12-ball 23-run cameo from their trusted youngster Prabhsimran Singh, and from thereon Bhanuka Rajapaksha took the reigns with a quick-fifty off 32 balls and was supported by 40-run knock from skipper Shikhar Dhawan. Rajapaksa was the stand-out performer with the bat as he ended his half-century drought after 23 innings, scoring his first since the Asia Cup finals. Good cameos from middle-order batters helped them post 191/5 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh was their best bowler for his spell of 3/19 in 3 overs. PBKS also would look to continue the winning-run.
