Player ready to leave Aston Villa to join Leeds or Sunderland on one condition

Aston Villa are facing a fight to keep hold of one of their attacking stars this summer, with Leeds United and Sunderland preparing to swoop in.

Even after qualifying for the Champions League, Aston Villa could still have some SCR problems to solve this summer. If the right offer arrives, there will be plenty of temptation for those in the Midlands to cash in on certain stars and end their issues at long last.

In turn, that’s also likely to benefit Unai Emery in his search for reinforcements of his own. Villa have been incredibly limited in that department over the last two years, but could finally give themselves some breathing room in the coming months.

That means Morgan Rogers is still one to watch if the likes of Manchester City do come sniffing around a big-money deal, and that also means another attacker could be heading for the exit door.

Aston Villa could see £35m bid accepted to seal a perfect signing for Watkins

Aston Villa have already commenced work to land a top-level talent this summer.

According to TeamTalk, Tammy Abraham is ready to leave Aston Villa for Leeds or Sunderland if they can offer him a starting place next season.

At Villa Park, meanwhile, club chiefs are willing to sell the forward at the right price if it helps them get on the right side of the SCR line. A deal is clearly there to be done.

In terms of progress, Leeds and Sunderland are simply just keeping tabs on the forward for now, but that interest could quickly turn into an offer if Abraham pushes for an exit.

It’s worth noting that he only rejoined Villa in January for around £21m and it’s highly likely that they’ll demand a similar fee to sell him on just months later.

Why Leeds should push for Abraham deal

There’s no denying that Dominic Calvert-Lewin just enjoyed an excellent debut campaign at Elland Road. That striker role is very much his to lose at this stage, but that’s not to say there isn’t space alongside him.

At a time when the Premier League values physicality over technical ability, adding Abraham alongside the former Everton man could be an act of genius.

Dubbed “amazing” by Jose Mourinho during his time at AS Roma, Abraham is an experienced player these days and his towering presence would certainly fit the current mold at Leeds.

If the 28-year-old wants a starting place, then he’ll get that at Elland Road rather than Sunderland, who are a Europa League side these days and operating with just Brian Brobbey leading the line.
