Bruno will love him: Man Utd offered to sign one of the “world’s best strikers”

Manchester United will be well aware of just how important this summer’s transfer window is.

It represents the perfect opportunity to break out of their Groundhog Day of failure and prove that Michael Carrick‘s interim spell was no fluke.

It’s why they’ve acted so quickly to land Ederson and why they’ve already got their sights set on further reinforcements in the coming months.

Man Utd hold over signing impressive attacker

Midfielder is undoubtedly the focus for the Red Devils this summer, but they’re also moving quickly enough to make time to upgrade other areas.

Alongside Ederson, names like Lewis Hall have threatened to steal the headlines as of late. He’ll be keen to get back to playing Champions League football as soon as possible and the best route to that could come courtesy of Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are chasing another midfielder.

Even after the success of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha last season, there’s also a chance that another attacker arrives at a price not even Sir Jim Ratcliffe can turn down.

Indeed, according to TEAMtalk, Man United have held talks over signing Dusan Vlahovic on a free deal following the end of his contract at Juventus.

The report notes that the Red Devils are one of a number of teams to have been contacted by his entourage with the chance to sign the Serbian. Vlahovic is confirmed to be leaving Juventus and United face competition from Chelsea, Aston Villa and Everton to bring him to the Premier League.

Although the forward will demand a significant salary package, the lack of transfer fee means clubs like Man United could have plenty of room in their budget to make a deal happen.

As the summer continues, Vlahovic is likely to become one of the most sought-after free agents that European football has to offer.

Why Vlahovic would thrive alongside Bruno Fernandes

To go from a struggling attack to a frontline which consists of options like Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Vlahovic all competing for the same position would represent incredible improvement at Old Trafford. It’s the type of depth that every manager dreams of, especially with the Champions League approaching.

Vlahovic isn’t someone who will simply sit and wait for his chance, either. Even when game time didn’t come thick and fast at Juventus this season, he scored seven Serie A goals in 970 minutes – the same as ten full games. When he got the chance to deliver, he took hold of it with both hands.

So, it’s easy to imagine those numbers skyrocketing with added opportunities which could arrive at Old Trafford, especially alongside a creator like Bruno Fernandes.

Whilst it’s in a smaller sample, the numbers present just how clinical Vlahovic is when he finds himself in front of goal. He matched his xG all the way and did not hesitate to get a shot off. Mbeumo, meanwhile, showed why he’s more of a creator with fewer shots and an underperforming xG.

The potential is certainly there for Sesko, but the numbers suggest that he’s not quite the finished product yet in terms of getting involved in games. Eventually his time will arrive, but for now, Vlahovic could swoop in.

What’s also important to note is how the forward’s numbers would likely increase even more at Old Trafford. His closest creator at Juventus was Kenan Yildiz. He created 76 chances and provided six assists. It’s impressive, but it’s not Fernandes.

The Portugal international, with a Player of the Year-winning campaign, created 136 chances and broke the Premier League‘s assist record with 21 to his name. He is a striker’s dream.

Dubbed “one of the best strikers in the world” by Serie A legend Luca Toni, Vlahovic’s clinical nature in front of goal would only enhance Fernandes’ numbers even more. It is a partnership waiting to take English football by storm if Man Utd turn talks into an offer this summer.
