WWE veteran AJ Styles made a bold claim about Chad Gable ahead of this week’s episode of RAW. Gable has been portraying the original El Grande Americano as of late and competed in a marquee match last month in AAA.
Ludwig Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano defeated Gable’s character at AAA Noche de los Grandes in a Mask vs. Mask match. As a result of the loss, Gable can no longer portray the El Grande Americano character.
Thanks for the submission!
Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles suggested that the 40-year-old had more star power than ever and the company would be foolish not to capitalize on it.
“He’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. And if we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies,” said Styles. (H/T: Ringside News)

Chad Gable returned to WWE television this past Friday night on SmackDown to have a meeting with Nick Aldis. The veteran also had a brief stare-down with Sami Zayn backstage during his appearance on the blue brand.
WWE legend makes bold claim about Chad Gable’s popularity
Wrestling veteran Mark Henry shared his thoughts on the reaction Chad Gable received from the crowd during his return on SmackDown.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, The World’s Strongest Man suggested that Gable could get the same level of respect from the WWE Universe that Kurt Angle received during his illustrious career. He noted that Gable’s size would no longer be a hindrance as the crowd respected him for his work.
“I think that Chad Gable has the ability now to go from Grande Americano to Kurt Angle type of respect. Because he deserves it. That dude is an Olympian, he’s entertaining, size don’t matter with him. Size didn’t matter with (Chris) Benoit, it didn’t matter with Rey Mysterio, it didn’t matter with Eddie Guerrero, it’s irrelevant when you’re good. Gable is good good.”
It will be fascinating to see what the future holds for the former leader of Alpha Academy on SmackDown.
