Considered one of the top prospects in his class, Blake Rutherford was drafted by the New York Yankees in 2016. Currently, the outfielder plays for the Staten Island FerryHawks, who compete in the Atlantic Division of Professional Baseball.

After failing to earn a call-up to the major leagues during his time in the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox organizations, Blake Rutherford finally lived his dream on Aug. 4, 2023, while representing the Washington Nationals.
Later the same day, his wife, Gracie, posted a heartfelt message to Instagram, celebrating his achievement.
“August 4, 2023. Blake ♥️ I am so proud of you. To watch your hard work, dedication, passion and faith throughout this journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Through the ups and downs, you have remained true to yourself and handled it all with such grace and perseverance. God’s timing is everything and your time is now.
“It takes a village, and we are so grateful for all the continuous love and support ♥️ the adventure continues… it’s only just getting started. Forever and always, I’ll be your biggest cheerleader and biggest fan. I love you beyond words can describe. Proud is an understatement. You did it! ♥️,” Gracie Rutherford posted.

Rutherford appeared in 16 games for the Washington Nationals to end the 2023 season, after which he elected free agency.
