    Caitlin Clark helped the Indiana Fever to a 123-88 win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, but the night wasn’t without drama. The Fever guard picked up her seventh technical foul of the season after exchanging words with Connecticut’s Saniya Rivers.

    Underdog WNBA shared a clip of the on-court exchange on X (formerly Twitter), along with Clark’s post-game explanation for what led to the technical foul.

    “Caitlin Clark on her seventh technical foul, via @romeovillekid: ‘She said she was locking me up, so I said ‘scoreboard, and the ref didn’t like that.’ If Clark receives one more technical foul, she’ll be suspended for a game,” Underdog WNBA wrote, quoting Clark.

    In the clip, Clark appeared to jaw at Rivers in the third quarter as the Fever held a 28-point lead with 30 seconds left on the clock. The guard went off on the Sun player during the exchange, asking her to check the “scoreboard.”

    Their back-and-forth quickly drew a reaction from fans, who were left in stitches by the Fever star’s on-court comment.

    Clark’s seventh technical foul leaves her one away from an automatic one-game suspension under WNBA rules. Despite the incident, the Fever star backed up her words with another standout performance, finishing with 27 points and 11 assists in Indiana’s dominant victory.

    Caitlin Clark helped the Indiana Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 123-88 on Wednesday, extending the team’s winning streak to three games. The win also moved Indiana into fifth place in the WNBA standings heading into the All-Star break.

    Clark said the Fever wanted to avoid another slow start after struggling in recent games.

    “I think one of our goals tonight was to come out and start well because we’ve struggled in that area over the last couple of games,” Clark said. “I thought we did that really well. Our defense wasn’t very good in the first quarter, but it got better in the second.”

    Indiana gave up 26 points in the opening quarter but tightened up defensively after that while moving the ball well on offense. The Fever led by 24 points at halftime and never let Connecticut back into the game as they head into the All-Star break on a high note.
