The NWSL announced Thursday it has ended its relationship with streaming service Victory+ after less than a year. No reason for the split was given, but it was effective immediately. By midday, all NWSL content had been scrubbed from the Victory+ site.
Beginning this weekend, all NWSL matches scheduled to be streamed on Victory+ will be available free of charge via NWSL+, part of the league’s site.
Two weeks ago, MLB’s Texas Rangers severed tied with Victory+ and reports from Sports Business Journal have said the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks are set to do the same. Sports Business Journal also reported that the platform had missed payments to the Rangers.
NWSL added Victory+ to its stable of media partners last offseason with a promise to broadcast and promote a steady diet of Sunday evening matches through the season. Deals with ESPN, CBS, Amazon, and scripps (ION) remain strong and in place through 2027.
Part of the deal with Victory+ was hosting content hubs for several NWSL teams. Those appear to also be removed from the site.
