A moment of jubilation quickly turned into a heart-stopping moment as Coritiba star Jacy plummeted down a tunnel while celebrating a disallowed goal on Sunday (AEST).
The 29-year-old hopped over the advertising boards but soon disappeared down a chute built into the playing surface, that runs to the away dressing room.
The tunnel is normally covered, but was opened by ground staff as halftime approached, just moments before Jacy thought he had put Coritiba 2-0 up.
In a terrifying moment after wheeling away in celebration, Jacy hurtled the barrier only to realise he had nowhere but down to go.
Vision of the frightening moment shows a security guard put his hands to his head as Jacy descended down the tunnel as teammates raced over to check on their star player.
The defender was helped up and received brief treatment behind the goal before hobbling back onto the field.
If he wasn’t feeling sorry for himself already, the goal was then ruled out by VAR for offside.

Jacy managed to soldier on for the remainder of the first half before succumbing to his injuries early in the second half.
He was then spotted with ice on his ankle as Coritiba managed to scrape home with a 2-1 over last-placed Chapecoense in Brazil’s first division.
Speaking about the moment after the game, Jacy described it as feeling like falling from a building.
“You know when you dream that you’re falling from a building? It was just like that,” he told Desimpedidos.
However, the talking point from the game was Jacy’s tumble, and incredibly it isn’t the first time it has happened.
In 2014, striker Joel also became a victim of the dangerous chute during Coritiba’s clash with Sao Paulo.
After scoring a goal for Coritiba, he also jumped the advertising board only to find himself falling down the tunnel.
Incredibly, on that occasion, he was helped up by the same security guard who was on the scene when Jacy took a tumble on the weekend.
And fans couldn’t believe both that coincidence and what they had just witnessed.
“There’s one detail that makes it even more unbelievable that Jacy repeats the jump in the tunnel: the security guard who tries to prevent the jump IS THE SAME ONE! Meanwhile, the side image is frightening. Jacy simply vanishes. This is Coritiba,” Brazilian journalist Leonardo Mendes Jr wrote.
“This celebration has to make it into FIFA, top creativity,” another joked.
“Hahahahaha the funniest part is that this goal was disallowed,” a third said.
