Veteran forward Sydney Leroux has officially been moved to Angel City’s active roster and will be available in Sunday’s match as they host the Washington Spirit, the team announced.

Leroux missed the entire 2025 season with an excused absence. She announced one day before her team’s season opener last season that she would “step away from soccer for my mental health.” The 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner teased a return in March via social media but had remained listed as out with an excused absence until now.

The 36-year-old has played in the National Women’s Soccer League since its inception in 2013, and for Angel City since the summer of 2022. Her last NWSL appearance came on November 1, 2024, against the Portland Thorns. She last scored in the game before that, a 1-1 draw against Utah on October 20, 2024.
