HoYoverse’s upcoming fantasy co-op RPG title, Nodusfall, has garnered some heat online soon after its reveal trailer dropped. Gamers have started comparing it to one of the biggest souls-like titles, Elden Ring, and found various similarities. Moving on, a massive part of the gaming community has started calling out the developers, and it is safe to say that many fans of Elden Ring are not happy about it.
In this article, we further discuss the similarities of Nodusfall to Elden Ring that gamers have found, as well as some of their reactions.
Why is Nodusfall receiving backlash soon after its reveal at Gamescom?

As mentioned earlier, some characters from HoYoverse’s new fantasy RPG title, Nodusfall, resemble some of Elden Ring’s bosses. If you have played the latter title and know what some of the major bosses look like, then you’ll be able to figure out the similarities while watching the reveal trailer.
As you can see in the picture above, this giant made of smoke and flames, featuring a burning ball as its head, is somewhat similar to Lord of Frenzied Flame from Elden Ring.

Moving on, many gamers have compared this female character to Malenia. In the trailer, you can see her spread her wings, which is exceptionally similar to the latter’s Goddess of Rot form. Another resemblance gamers have discovered is that the warrior near the lion-like creature looks similar to Godfrey and the Lord of Beasts, Serosh.
While you can see many posts online pointing out these similarities, some gamers have voiced their opinions regarding this matter. Since HoYoverse has been releasing anime-like gacha games, one fan thought that the trailer was actually an Elden Ring DLC announcement. Another fan claimed that the iconic one will always stay the same, no matter what the copy-paste is.

Among all, some fans are trying to look past all the negativity, as Genshin Impact was labeled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild rip-off but still made billions.
That said, HoYoverse has yet to reveal information regarding Nodusfall’s release date and platforms, although they did mention a free-to-play model without character gacha. Furthermore, they haven’t addressed anything related to the backlash as well.
