    San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw raised questions about global geography in a Tuesday morning press conference. Greenlaw and the 49ers are in Melbourne, Australia ahead of their Week 1 clash with the Los Angeles Rams.

    The game, set to be played on Thursday, is the first ever NFL regular-season game hosted in Melbourne. Greenlaw was asked if he had any question for the Australian locals after experiencing the country for a few days.

    “But, I mean, it’s just interesting being in another country,” he responded. “Like, I mean, how far are we from Antarctica? That’s what I got to ask, yeah. So, like, I mean, we’re like, right on top of it, huh? Does it snow?… So, is Antarctica, is it a lie?”

    Dre Greenlaw reaction to getting fact-checked on his Antarctica question

    Dre Greenlaw‘s questions were met with laughter and he was assured that the continent exists. However, the 29-year-old linebacker would not take it without a rebuttal.

    “Y’all been there before?” he asked with a grin. “Never been there. So how you know if it’s cold or not? OK,” he added in response to the reporters’ admission that they’ve not been to Antarctica before.

    Dre Greenlaw returned to San Francisco this offseason on a one-year $7.5 million contract after a brief stint with the Denver Broncos.

    However, the 2019 fifth-round pick is not the only NFL player indulging in conspiracy theories about the nature and existence of Antarctica.

    Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf raised a similar conspiracy theory about the continent in a recent interview with the Athletic.
