ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 full schedule announced, India vs Pakistan date revealed

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule has been announced, with the tournament set to take place across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21. The 14-team tournament will feature a new multi-stage format before the semi-finals and final.

India have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, with one place reserved for the winner of the qualifying round. India will face Pakistan on October 10 in Johannesburg, while the final is scheduled to be played in Johannesburg on November 21.

The 2027 World Cup will feature 14 teams, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia serving as the host nations. The 12 directly qualified teams have been divided into two groups of six.

Group A:
Afghanistan, Australia, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Qualifier A

Group B:
Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Qualifier B

The remaining places will be decided through the preliminary stage. Three of the lowest-ranked qualified teams will compete in a round-robin Super Series, with the top-ranked team advancing to the main group stage.

India and Pakistan have been drawn in the same group, meaning their league-stage fixture will take place on October 10 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Australia will face India two days earlier on October 8 in Cape Town, while India will take on Afghanistan on October 14 in Tshwane.

The group stage will also see India face the team that comes through the qualifying route on October 17 in Bloemfontein.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 format explained

The 2027 World Cup will begin with a preliminary Super Series involving the three lowest-ranked qualified teams. The three teams will play each other in a round-robin format, with the team finishing at the top progressing to the main group stage.

The 12 teams in the main stage will then be divided into two groups of six. Each group will play a 30-match round-robin competition, meaning every team will face the other five teams in its group.

The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 7 stage. They will be joined by the next best-placed team across the two groups, taking the number of teams in the next phase to seven.

The Super 7 stage will consist of a 21-match round-robin competition. Each team will play six matches, with the top four teams at the end of the stage advancing to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals are scheduled for November 17 and 18, with the first semi-final taking place in Cape Town and the second in Tshwane. The winners will then meet in the World Cup final in Johannesburg on November 21.
