The Chicago Bulls have finally waived veteran guard Goran Dragic, who’s expected to join a playoff team. Surprisingly, an Eastern Conference team has already expressed their interest in acquiring Dragic now that he’s a free agent.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier today that the Milwaukee Bucks have emerged as a potential landing spot for the Slovenian guard. While they are the favorites to land Dragic, there’s still a chance for the veteran to be signed to a different organization moving forward.
“He has connected with a few contenders since Bulls waived him, but the East-leading Bucks have moved to forefront of reaching a deal with Dragic,” wrote Wojnarowski on Twitter.
With that said, here are three teams that could have an edge in signing Dragic as the postseason approaches.
#1 Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns are the favorites to win the championship this season after they acquired Kevin Durant during the trade deadline. For veteran players, joining a team that has a sure shot at winning the title is logical.
Dragic also has history with the Suns, as he spent six seasons with the organization.
#2 Dallas Mavericks
Goran Dragic has a connection to the Dallas Mavericks as his Slovenian teammate Luka Doncic is the star of the team. Their relationship could be the key to Dragic signing on the dotted line.
It was rumored earlier this season that Dragic could join the Mavs and this could be the perfect time.
#3 Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers may already have a veteran guard in Ricky Rubio, but it wouldn’t hurt to add another one. Acquiring Dragic could improve the leadership and direction of the team now that Kevin Love has been bought out.
