Finn Balor shares massive spoiler about his WWE future following SummerSlam loss

Finn Balor shared a massive tease about his WWE future following his loss at SummerSlam. The veteran competed in a high-stakes match at the PLE over the weekend but came up short.

Sami Zayn and Finn Balor were supposed to battle in a number one contender’s match at SummerSlam, but the bout was changed by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. The authority figure revealed that both Gunther and Kevin Owens would be added to make it a Fatal 4-Way match. Kevin Owens won the match by hitting Sami Zayn with a Stunner for the pinfall victory.

Balor responded to a fan on his Instagram story today who created a graphic of him looking at the Undisputed WWE Championship. Balor reposted the image and added the word “soon,” as seen in the image below.

Gunther defeated Nick Aldis during Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam. It was Aldis’ first match since 2023, and he was reinstated as SmackDown General Manager by Triple H following the loss. The Ring General was furious that Kevin Owens was also added to the number one contender’s match at SummerSlam and called The Prizefighter a “sweaty fat jerk” following his victory.

Major WWE star breaks character to praise Finn Balor

Sami Zayn broke character ahead of SummerSlam to praise Finn Balor. The Last Real Good Guy held the Undisputed WWE Championship for nine days before dropping it to CM Punk last month.

In an interview with ESPN, Zayn noted that Balor was incredible and that they both had a similar journey as professional wrestlers.

“Finn Balor, look, unbelievable, unbelievable. I can’t say enough good things about him as a performer. He has his own journey too. I mean, he won it for a day. It’s not actually terribly dissimilar from me in some ways. He won it, held it for a day because of an injury and that was it, and now he’s been trying to chase that and get back to that for ten years, and it’s similar to me in the sense that it felt like something that was within my grasp ten years ago, and I just have to keep beating my head against the wall to finally get there. So I think we’re in some ways kind of in similar situations. I take nothing away from him.” [From 2:46 onwards]

Only time will tell if Balor will be able to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship in the future.
