IPL 2024: Match 23: Stats Review: Getting stumped out off a pacer and other stats from PBKS vs SRH

After playing three consecutive away matches, Punjab Kings returned to their adopted home in Mullanpur and delivered another thriller albeit finishing on the wrong side of the result against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan chose to put SRH in to bat and the results were reaped almost immediately as SRH were reduced to 64/4 at the halway stage. But yougster and Player of The Match K Nitish Kumar Reddy (64 off 37) playing only his ninth T20 match showed great composure and was helped by timely cameos from Abdul Samad (25 off 12), Shabaz Ahmed (14 off 7) and Jaydev Unadkat (6* off 1) pushed SRH to 182/9.

Punjab Kings did not fare any better at the start either and were reduced to 27/3 in the powerplay. Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza tried to rebuild the innings but they never looked like putting PBKS in a winning position. Jitesh Sharma (19 off 11) played a cameo, but it was last match’s heroes, Shashank Singh (46* off 25) and Ashutosh Sharma (33* off 15) who with their fine death overs hitting, managed to take PBKS within an agonising two runs of the target.
