Tiger Woods puts up worst 72-hole score of his career

Tiger Woods made history when he made his 24th straight cut at the Masters on Friday. Sunday, he made some history he would have rather avoided.

Woods had a 77 on Sunday for what was not only his worst score at the Masters but the worst 72-hole round of his career. It wasn’t as bad as his Saturday when Woods shot a 10-over 82, but Woods will finish last among the 60 golfers who made the cut.

The whole weekend was a challenge, with the weather making Augusta an unpredictable course. Due to delays, Woods had to shoot 23 holes in a ten-hour effort on Friday but made the cut. But the back half of the first tournament he’s finished in over a year wasn’t great.

Early in the round, Woods was betrayed by the woods. He hit his tee shot into the trees, found his lie was unplayable, and ended up with a seven and a triple-bogey. But he still had some moments.

On the 16th hole, Woods acknowledged broadcaster Verne Lundquist, working his 40th and final Masters.

Woods also got a big ovation at the 18th hole. He may be diminished, but even in one of the worst performances of his career, crowds can’t get enough of Woods.
