Adam Copeland (fka Edge) talks about working with 20-time WWE champion in AEW: “I feel like we finally got it”

AEW star Adam Copeland recently revealed details about the rewarding experience of working with a 20-time WWE champion in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Adam Copeland (fka Edge) is one of the most decorated stars in professional wrestling and has achieved legendary status over a career spanning decades. The former Edge, who gained fame in WWE, chose to sign with AEW in 2023 to work with newer talent and quickly became one of the most prominent faces on the company’s programming. Currently, the Rated-R Superstar is away from Tony Khan’s promotion due to filming commitments. Amid his hiatus, Cope gained attention by discussing his much-anticipated reunion with former two-time World Heavyweight Champion and multiple-time WWE Tag Team Champion Christian Cage in AEW.

Speaking in an interview with Jim Varsallone, the former TNT champion mentioned that reuniting with Cage was a super special moment, especially in a company that teated treated them as equals.

“Now getting to team with Jay [Christian] and then also getting to face each other properly with the experience that we have under our belts now with a company who treats us as equals, I think that was important and we both wanted that. And I feel like we finally got it, so all of that has been super special.” [H/T: WrestlePurists on X]

John Cena’s father wanted AEW star Cope to be his son’s final opponent.

John Cena Sr. recently appeared on the All Axxess podcast, where he discussed who he thought should be his son’s last opponent and mentioned four wrestlers he considered worthy. The veteran named Chris Jericho, Adam Copeland (fka Edge), JBL, and Kurt Angle.

Incidentally, in the same interview that took place about a week before Cena’s final match, Cena Sr. advised against choosing Gunther for the bout. It turns out that it was indeed the Ring General who earned the right to face Cena in his last match by winning the Last Time Is Now tournament on the most recent edition of SmackDown.
