Patrick Mahomes isn’t hiding from the reality of Week 15. He’s banged up. Cameras caught the Chiefs quarterback using a heating pad on his left knee during Sunday night’s loss to the Texans.
This raised questions about his condition as Kansas City fights to keep its playoff hopes alive. Mahomes, who appeared on ‘96.5 The Fan’ midweek, admitted he’s feeling the wear of a long season.
Thanks for the submission!
“I feel like I’ve played a football season,” he said. “Everybody’s banged up… but I’ll be ready to go. I’m excited to get back out there and try to get in a better mindset of winning.”

The 30-year-old quarterback isn’t the only injured signal-caller for the Chiefs vs. Chargers game. Justin Herbert is also dealing with a broken left hand. Mahomes praised Herbert’s toughness and discussed what it takes to play through pain.

“You have to be tough and perform when you don’t feel your best,” Mahomes said. “If guys sacrifice their bodies to block for you, you have to sacrifice yours too.”
Both quarterbacks enter Week 15 bruised, and both are desperate for a win, Mahomes obviously more.
Colin Cowherd gives opinion on Patrick Mahomes & Chiefs’ dynasty ending
Colin Cowherd didn’t sugarcoat a thing when assessing the Kansas City Chiefs’ downfall this year after 20–10 loss to the Houston Texans. On ‘The Herd,’ the NFL analyst said the warning signs are no longer subtle and the Patrick Mahomes-led dynasty is showing unmistakable cracks.
“They look a little slower… Travis Kelce with another big drop, no pass rush, the O-line got pushed around, they don’t have a running game,” Cowherd argued.
“This is how dynasties end. They don’t fall off a cliff. They dominate for years, then start barely winning close games… then start losing those close games. That’s Kansas City this year.”
Cowherd highlighted an alarming stat that the Chiefs are 0–4 when Mahomes is their leading rusher, indicating how depleted their supporting cast has become. His conclusion was blunt,
“Trust your eyes… Kansas City needs a reboot. Maybe even a rebuild.”
At 6–7, the Chiefs have already suffered their most losses since Mahomes became the starter and have been eliminated from AFC West contention for the first time in nine years.
