Mercedes Mone announced earlier this year that she would be leaving AEW for an indefinite period of time. The former WWE superstar finally ended her in-ring hiatus yesterday, but unfortunately lost another championship from her collection of belts. Afterwards, she was seen heading to the back alongside an All Elite colleague of hers- a visual which has given birth to speculations of a potential alliance between the erstwhile Sasha Banks, and Megan Bayne.
At Dynamite: New Year’s Smash last year, Mercedes Mone lost her only singles title in AEW, the TBS Championship, to Willow Nightingale. After her humiliation at the hands of The Babe with The Power and her friends the following week, The CEO announced that she would be taking time away from All Elite Wrestling. After two months of inactivity, Mercedes finally returned to the squared circle this past Friday at CMLL La Noche de la Amazonas, where she defended her CMLL World Women’s Title.
Unfortunately for Mone, her challenger Persephone successfully unseated her at Arena Mexico to become the new CMLL Women’s Champion. While the 24-year-old celebrated her massive win, a defeated Mercedes was seen walking to the back, and she was accompanied by none other than her AEW colleague, Megan Bayne. The two women had found themselves on the same side last year in the inaugural Women’s Blood and Guts match. They had also teamed up in a multi-person tag bout a month later on Dynamite: Holiday Bash.
Notably, Megan has been feuding with Women’s World Tag Team Champions The Babes of Wrath over the past couple of months. She even challenged Willow Nightingale for her TBS Championship in a four-way bout last month, and could be still interested in going after the belt. Considering her seemingly budding alliance with The Megasus, Mercedes Mone could return to AEW to exact vengeance on Willow by costing her the TBS Title against Bayne, with whom she could from then on be officially aligned.
AEW’s Megan Bayne made her CMLL debut this week
Although Mercedes Mone’s night at CMLL La Noche de la Amazonas this week ended in heartbreak, the same could not be said for Megan Bayne, who made her successful debut for the Mexican promotion at the same show.

“The Greek Goddess” took on and defeated Olympia in singles action in Arena Mexico. It remains to be seen when she will be back on All Elite Wrestling programming.
