Wendell Carter Jr. has shared the secret to his relationship with Angel Reese about fighting the narrative surrounding them on social media. Carter and Reese have been together since last year, with the now Atlanta Dream star being a regular in Orlando Magic games.
Speaking to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Carter opened up about his relationship with one of the biggest WNBA stars in the world. Reese has always been making headlines, so they have found a way to keep themselves away from any negative news.
“We’re both competitors,” Carter said. “Before games, after games, we tell each other what we should do night in and night out and not to pay too much attention to the outside noise. We call it the white noise. Try not to pay too much attention to it and just understand that we’ve already built our foundation in both our leagues and continue to build on it.”
Angel Reese was the talk of the town before the WNBA Draft after the Chicago Sky traded her to the Atlanta Dream. Reese’s relationship with the Sky took a hit after she called out the franchise in an interview last September.
Reese might have turned the Dream into contenders, teaming up with a stacked roster that boasts Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones and Naz Hillmon. They are expected to be one of the top contenders in the WNBA this season.
Meanwhile, Wendell Carter Jr. and the Orlando Magic looked lackluster in their NBA Play-In loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. They still have a shot at making the playoffs, but they have to beat the Charlotte Hornets on Friday to qualify.
Chicago Sky make moves after Angel Reese trade

Angel Reese’s blunt honesty about the Chicago Sky franchise damaged their relationship. However, that same honesty about improving the team led to the Sky front office doing a bunch of moves that Reese campaigned for last season.
After trading Reese to the Atlanta Dream, the Sky acquired Rickea Jackson from the LA Sparks and Jacy Sheldon from the Washington Mystics. They also signed veterans Skylar Diggins, DiJonai Carrington and Azura Stevens, strengthening their depth and playmaking.
The Sky drafted Gabriela Jaquez, Latasha Lattimore and Tonie Morgan. They also still have Kamilla Cardoso and Hailey Van Lith, so the roster is composed of a good mix of young players and veterans.
Reese faces her former team on April 30 in a preseason game. The Sky and Dream are also set to meet three more times in the regular season.
