Chelsea have now made contact about a summer deal for a “spectacular” Real Madrid player, and the Spanish side’s stance on sanctioning a transfer has been revealed.
Chelsea eyeing summer signings amid search for Liam Rosenior replacement
The Blues’ search for a new manager rumbles on, as we approach the end of the season, and while it has been a difficult campaign, they still have a chance to end it with a trophy, having made it to the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 16th.
Interim boss Calum McFarlane will be in charge at Wembley, but a new manager is set to be brought in this summer, and a number of targets have already been identified.
Of course, the type of player the west Londoners sign this summer will be influenced by which manager they bring in, but BlueCo have focused on bringing in youngsters since replacing Roman Abramovich.
The high turnover of players has caused unrest amongst the fanbase too, with a Chelsea Supporters’ Trust statement reading: “At the heart of supporter concern is a simple point: the current model has demanded a huge amount of faith from the fanbase, while giving too little clarity in return. Supporters have watched relentless upheaval. Players, managers, staff, and structures have changed at pace. This has been presented as part of a long-term plan.”
However, BlueCo seemingly remain keen on bringing in talented youngsters, with a report from TEAMtalk revealing they have now lodged an enquiry about a deal for Real Madrid forward Endrick, who is currently out on loan with Lyon in Ligue 1.
There are indications a deal could be difficult to orchestrate though, as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is still of the belief he signed ‘the best young player in world football’ when the Brazilian arrived from Palmeiras in 2024.
As such, the 19-year-old is expected to return to the Santiago Bernabeu and fight for his place next season, which he is happy to do, after displaying some encouraging signs in Ligue 1.
Since joining Lyon on loan in January, the teenager has a very respectable four goals and six assists to his name in 13 league games, and he has been lauded as “spectacular” by former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti previously.
It may be wise for Chelsea to strengthen their forward line this summer, given that Liam Delap has scored just one Premier League goal all season, since arriving from Ipswich Town, but Endrick, who rakes in £69k-a-week, seems like a pretty unlikely signing, given that Perez remains a big fan.
