A major announcement was made regarding Chris Jericho’s immediate future ahead of tonight’s special episode for AEW television.
Y2J had been absent from All Elite Wrestling since April 2025. Despite being rumored to return to WWE during his hiatus, Jericho shocked the world with his comeback to Tony Khan’s promotion almost a year later. Since that night, he has been embroiled in a heated feud with Ricochet and his faction, The Demand (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona).
Chris Jericho then went on to lose a huge singles match to the former WWE United States Champion at the AEW Dynasty 2026 pay-per-view. Moreover, he has been beaten down by The Demand every single week since being defeated by Ricochet with his own move, the Lionsault, at Dynasty, as recently as last week.
Despite that, the first-ever Undisputed Champion has been announced via AEW’s Instagram to make an appearance to address his foes on tonight’s Dynamite+Collision three-hour special show. This likely means Chris Jericho will have another encounter with them.
We’ll Hear From @chrisjerichofozzy The Demand have been making good on their promise to attack Jericho every week he shows up! We’ll hear from Jericho, TONIGHT! #AEWDynamite + #AEWCollision 3-HOUR SPECIAL! 8/7c, TBS + HBO Max TONIGHT!
WWE legend discussed Chris Jericho’s AEW run
In an episode of his podcast, Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the WWE legend said that Chris Jericho is a huge draw for AEW if used correctly. At the same time, he also acknowledged his hard run in the company as the fans wanted younger guys to thrive on television.
“I don’t think that their fan base, which is a pretty, pretty loyal fan base, I would say, I don’t, you know, think they’re gonna be crazy about Chris, you know, because they are, they want their younger guys who are out there with the highest work rate possible and are just go, go, go, go, go, five-star bangers. I mean, you know, that’s kind of, that’s kind of how, that’s what they’re building the place on, right? Where the best wrestle and the best wrestling content and what not. So I mean, Chris being an older act would be just such a star. He has so much star power. There’s so many ways he can contribute to the show, it’s just, they would have to utilize him in the correct way.”
As Jericho continues to navigate his career in All Elite Wrestling, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him post his feud with Ricochet.
