SRH vs PBKS Highlights, IPL 2026: 3 moments that generated a buzz among fans in Match 49 ft. Shashank Singh

Punjab Kings slumped to their third consecutive defeat in IPL 2026 with a 33-run loss to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday, May 6. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

SRH were off to a flying start, courtesy of a 54-run opening stand off 21 balls from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Heinrich Klaasen (69 off 43) and Ishan Kishan (55 off 32) continued their wonderful form, notching up fine half-centuries.

Nitish Reddy also chipped in with an impactful cameo, remaining unbeaten on 29 off 13 balls. SRH finished on 235/4 in 20 overs, recording their highest first innings score against PBKS. Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up one wicket each.

Punjab were off to a poor start with the bat, losing four wickets within seven overs. Cooper Connolly gave them some hope with his unbeaten century. However, his 107* off 59 balls went in vain as PBKS ended at 202/7 after 20 overs. SRH skipper Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers, bagging two important scalps.

Here, we look at three moments from the clash that generated a buzz among the fans.

#3 Abhishek Sharma slams authoritative first-over six off Arshdeep Singh

SRH opener Abhishek Sharma was up against his Punjab state teammate Arshdeep Singh in the powerplay. The left-arm pacer started with a yorker outside the off stump.

However, he missed his length on the next ball, and Abhishek capitalized on it. The swashbuckling batter cleared the long-off fence for the first maximum of the match. He did not hit it too hard and backed his timing to do the job.

#2 SRH take early advantage by removing PBKS openers off successive deliveries

The onus was on PBKS openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh to take down the SRH bowlers in the powerplay. Their opening stand was going to be key against the daunting target.

However, Pat Cummins drew first blood for SRH by dismissing Priyansh (1 off 3) on the final ball of the first over. The youngster went for a big hit off a short-pitched ball but didn’t get the desired connection. Eshan Malinga completed an impressive catch in the deep to end the batter’s knock.

To make matters worse for Punjab, Nitish Reddy struck on the first ball of the next over. Prabhsimran (3 off 4) attempted to clear the in-field with a lofted drive but was caught by Pat Cummins after a leading edge.

#1 Shashank Singh puts down a sitter, yet again

Shashank Singh’s sloppy catching has come under the scanner this season. He came into the spotlight again after putting down a sitter in the deep to give Heinrich Klaasen a reprieve.

The swashbuckling batter got a top-edge off Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling in the ninth over. However, Shashank put down a straightforward chance, and the dropped catch resulted in a four. Klaasen was batting on nine runs at that stage and ended up scoring 69 runs.

Notably, Shashank has dropped five catches in his last three appearances. Watch the video here:
