Dana White’s reaction to the chaos that erupted at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April, following a suspected shooter threat, caught many by surprise.
While most people in such a situation would be terrified, White appeared fascinated by the ordeal, even going so far as to proclaim, “It was awesome.”
The UFC CEO has since addressed his controversial reaction during an interview with The New Yorker, claiming his adrenaline was off the charts during the whole ordeal:
“I was sitting there talking to Pete Hegseth. All of a sudden, you just hear a crash and plates and dishes and glasses. I turn around, and I see what looks like 50 Secret Service guys kicking tables over, running on the top of tables, and they’re screaming, ‘Everybody get on the ground.’ Then I watched them pull [J.D.] Vance and [Donald] Trump off the stage. They cleared the stage, and then, and then literally, the entire stage is guys with guns, with lights on them pointed at us.”

White added:
“Now the Secret Service guys are coming toward our table. I was at the first table in front of the stage. And we don’t know what’s going on. Is there a shooter? Is there a bomb? And just the adrenaline in your body, mine anyway, was off the charts… Now, being another man, tell me the greatest movie you ever saw with those types of things, but just on steroids. I know [it wasn’t a movie], which made it even greater. When it was over for four hours, I was bouncing off the walls… It was pretty bada**.”

Dana White addresses the politics surrounding the UFC White House card
While Dana White and Co. are set to bring the UFC to the White House on June 14 at the request of Donald Trump, the MMA promoter insists that the event is not political.
During the UFC 327 presser, White was asked whether he was concerned that taking the promotion to the White House could alienate a portion of the fan base with differing political views. The 56-year-old, however, dismissed those concerns and clarified what he believes are misconceptions surrounding the event, saying:
“Look at any of my speeches at the Republican conventions. They are never political. I am never talking about one side or the other side. This guy [Trump] is a very good friend of mine, and that’s it. And he’s a big fan of the sport.” [1:46 mark of the interview]
