Crystal Palace and Brighton now battling to sign Bayern Munich attacker

Crystal Palace are now eyeing a summer move for a Bayern Munich attacker, and there are indications the German club could be willing to sanction a move.

Palace eyeing new signings ahead of exciting end to the season

The Oliver Glasner era is coming to an end, with his final Premier League game as Palace manager set to take place at Selhurst Park this afternoon, taking on champions Arsenal.

Following that, the Eagles will jet out to Leipzig to take on Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League final, with Glasner looking to add another trophy to his collection, having also won the FA Cup and Community Shield for the first time in the club’s history.

Not only would winning the Conference League be a fitting end to the Austrian’s time at Selhurst Park, but it would also grant access to next season’s Europa League, having so cruelly been denied the opportunity to take part in last season’s competition.

Should Glasner’s side manage to get over the line, his replacement should be able to attract a better calibre of player in the upcoming window, and strengthening the forward line is of interest, with contact already being made to sign FC Midtyjlland winger Dario Osorio.

Crystal Palace eyeing “incredible” attacker alongside Osorio

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are also plotting a summer move for Bayern Munich attacker Arijon Ibrahimovic, who is capable of playing on both wings and in the number 10 role, with Aston Villa also in the race for his signature.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham are also keen on signing Ibrahimovic, and there is a feeling the Bundesliga champions may be willing to sanction another loan move, despite being pleased by his performances at Heidenheim this season.

Of course, there is fierce competition for a spot in Vincent Kompany’s starting XI, which means another loan move would make sense, and he could be an exciting signing for Palace, having been lauded as “incredible” by scout Jacek Kulig.

    Arijon Ibrahimovic’s Bundesliga season

    • 32 appearances
    • 25 starts
    • 2 goals
    • 4 assists
    • 11 big chances created
    • 82 defensive contributions

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has also praised the 20-year-old for his versatility, adding: “Arijon Ibrahimović was able to gain valuable experience at the age of just 17 last season – not just on the pitch – at Frosinone Calcio, in one of Europe’s top leagues. That’s brought him on enormously and now he’s getting the chances to impress in our first team. Arijon can play in every position in attack, has a strong mentality and always a good drive towards goal.”

However, Palace should look to secure Ibrahimovic’s signature on a permanent basis, rather than on loan, with Bayern said to be waiting to assess the versatile forward in pre-season before making a decision regarding his future.
