Manchester United have sealed a third-place finish in the Premier League, an achievement that almost beggars belief when considering how far they had fallen under Ruben Amorim.

Michael Carrick has earned his position in the dugout. This time for good. This time with INEOS considering him the man to lead this project forward over years, not months.

United have made headway this season, but they will need to strengthen well this summer if the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City are to be closed down.

And according to Romano, INEOS have held talks to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with the 19-year-old the talk of the town after an exceptional breakout season in Germany.

The transfer expert took to his YouTube show to say: “It’s not only Liverpool, because Paris Saint-Germain, I told you all of this already in January, but also Paris Saint-Germain are in conversation.

“Manchester United are following the player, but Man United have already informed people close to the player that they will not pay €100m for Diomande because the main investments will be made in midfield.”

Diomande is worth £87m, and that’s undoubtedly steep for a young winger who has limited experience out on the major stage.

But this is one of the most sought-after wingers in the world, and with Liverpool having already made him their top target, INEOS will want to do everything they can to secure his signature.

After all, this could be the new Marcus Rashford for the Premier League giants.

Why Diomande can be Man United’s new Rashford

Rashford ebbed and flowed throughout his time at Manchester United, in many ways, symptomatic of the deep issues that have plagued the club over the past 13 years.

At his best, he was incredible, direct and ever dangerous in the final third. Diomande could be the new version that the Red Devils are searching for, already considered a “generational talent” by journalist Bence Bocsak for his efforts in Germany.

The teenage winger, left-footed and at his best when curling in off the right, scored 12 goals and assisted eight more across the 2025/26 season, but it’s his underlying data that speaks of his world-class potential, creating 17 big chances and also averaging 3.6 duels and 5.6 duels per game.

There is a reason so many powerful clubs want the Ivory Coast international, whose stock may skyrocket even higher after the looming 2026 World Cup in North America. His flowing, snappy running style and desire to take opponents on has seen him rise to the top of the German game, with Bayern Munich’s interest evidence of his quality.

Diomande has similar attributes to Rashford, with the England international equally explosive and unpredictable during his younger playing days.

He might prefer the opposite flank, but this is a winger who has the quality to transform a Man United attack already on the rise, adding even more impetus and youthful avidity to complement and challenge the likes of Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.

Marcus Rashford. La Liga champion. Those of a United persuasion are happy for him, and no mistake, but there’s certainly room in Carrick’s squad for a dynamic forward of his ilk.

Now, however, they could say goodbye to the past and bring over a new Rashford-esque forward, someone who could spearhead the new era for many years to come.
