    ‘Shield 2.0’ Officially Dead; Betrayal Explained

    Shield 2.0 is officially dead after tonight. The group explained the reason behind a major betrayal.

    When Darkstate first made their NXT debut tonight, they were known as Shield 2.0. This is because they resembled the Shield in how they looked and carried themselves. They also had a similar finisher to the triple powerbomb. The group made an impact upon arriving in the black and silver brand. They took out several men backstage and even won the NXT Tag Team Titles twice. Dion Lennox was also getting some opportunities to pursue singles gold. He was once in contention for the NXT Championship. However, this caused a rift between Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox ever since the latter started pursuing the North American Championship. Saquon claimed that Dion was putting his own interests above the group. Last week on NXT, Shield 2.0 members Dion Lennox and Saquon Shugars faced off against The Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Titles. Darkstate were not able to win the match. After the match, Osiris Griffin and Cutler James attacked Saquon Shugars. Even Dion Lennox joined in on the assault.

    Tonight on NXT, Darkstate were in the ring as they explained their actions. Osiris explained that they all were Division 1 athletes, while Saquon Shugars was just an Indie wrestler. Cutler James said that Saquon made their decision easy last week due to his actions over the weeks. He said that the success of one person is the same as the group’s success. He also called Shugars a liability and reckless. He also said that Shugars failed the group. Dion Lennox revealed that he was surprised by Osiris and Cutler’s actions last week, but he quickly understood the play.

    Shield 2.0 put the entire locker room on notice

    When Darkstate first debuted in NXT, they were a force to be reckoned with. This also helped them win the Tag Titles. However, ever since they started bickering amongst themselves, they have lost their way.

    During tonight’s segment, Dion Lennox proclaimed himself as the leader of Darkstate. He said that he built the group brick by brick. Dion then put the entire locker room on notice and said that nobody is safe.

    It remains to be seen if Saquon Shugars will get his revenge on his former stablemates for betraying him.
