Barbora Krejcikova vs Robin Montgomery preview

Eighth seed Barbora Krejcikova will face off against unseeded Robin Montgomery in the final of the 2026 Libema Open on Sunday.
Krejcikova has been very selective with her schedule this season, playing only a handful of tournaments so far. Her best result came at the WTA 250 Parma Open, where she reached the final before falling to Dayana Yastremska. It was just her seventh tournament of the year. The Czech headed to Libema after suffering a first-round exit at the French Open and has looked in fine form since, defeating Renata Zarazua, Hanne Vandewinkel, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and, most recently, Magda Linette 6-3, 7-6(4) to book her place in the final.

Meanwhile, Montgomery is still searching for a breakthrough run on the WTA Tour, and 2026 has been no exception so far. Her best result this season came at the WTA 125 Oeiras 3, where she reached the semifinals before losing to Roland Garros finalist Maja Chwalinska. The American had to come through qualifying at Libéma to secure a place in the main draw and has made the most of the opportunity, defeating Daria Kasatkina, Greet Minnen, Daria Snigur, and Ajla Tomljanovic, the latter by a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline, to reach the summit clash.

Barbora Krejcikova vs Robin Montgomery prediction
Krejcikova has never been a player who overwhelms opponents with sheer power. Instead, she wins by making tennis look deceptively simple. She changes pace effortlessly, mixes spins, and has an uncanny ability to pull opponents out of their comfort zones. Few players read the game as well as she does.
Montgomery brings a more direct style. The American likes to play aggressively, take the ball early, and impose herself whenever she gets the chance. When she’s striking cleanly, she can make life difficult for anyone.
The challenge for Montgomery is that Krejcikova rarely gives opponents the same ball twice. One rally might be fast and flat, the next full of angles and variation. That constant change of rhythm can be frustrating, especially for players who prefer to dictate.
Here, Krejcikova’s experience and tactical intelligence could prove crucial. Montgomery certainly has the weapons to make things competitive, but the Czech has spent years finding ways to dismantle powerful opponents without needing to overpower them herself.
Pick: Krejcikova to win in straight sets.
