Inter Miami agree deal to sign FIFA World Cup star as they look to bolster Lionel Messi-led squad: Reports

Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami have completed a deal to sign 2026 FIFA World Cup superstar Casemiro as a free agent. The Brazil international is keen on playing with Messi and is waiting to sign the deal, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Casemiro plied his trade for Real Madrid between 2013 and 2022, establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. During this time, the 34-year-old competed against Lionel Messi and Barcelona as part of El Clásico.

Despite their past rivalry, the Brazilian reportedly wants to play with Messi at Inter Miami. Romano posted an exclusive on X, tweeting:

“EXCLUSIVE: Inter Miami complete deal to sign Casemiro as new midfielder, here we go! Verbal agreement sealed with all parties involved and all formal steps resolved, now waiting to sign and announce the Brazilian. Casemiro wants to play with Messi. Future in MLS.”

Casemiro has represented Manchester United over the past four seasons, with the FIFA World Cup star becoming an integral part of their setup. He scored 26 goals and provided 14 assists in 160 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, helping them win the EFL Cup and FA Cup. However, he ultimately opted not to renew his contract, thus exiting Old Trafford as a free agent this summer.

While Casemiro reportedly had offers from Saudi Arabia, including Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, he is now set to join Lionel Messi in the MLS. The former has found success throughout his club career, also helping Real Madrid win 18 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles.

“There’s nothing more to say” – Lamine Yamal makes Lionel Messi GOAT statement following 2026 FIFA World Cup display

Barcelona and Spain ace Lamine Yamal has claimed that Lionel Messi is the best player in football history, despite admitting Neymar is his idol. His comments arrived after Messi scored a sensational hat-trick to help Argentina secure a 3-0 win against Algeria in their FIFA World Cup opener on June 16.

While Messi has contested the GOAT debate for well over a decade, Yamal believes the matter has been settled by the 38-year-old’s performances in every game. He told RTVE (via Hindustan Times):

“Every match proves he’s the best in history. If anyone has doubts, it’s because they’re looking for them. There’s nothing more to say. My idol is Neymar, but Messi is the best.”

Lionel Messi also made FIFA World Cup history after scoring a hat-trick. He equaled Miroslav Klose’s all-time goal record in the competition (16), and will aim to pass the German legend in the coming games.
