In the carousel post, Sigman posted two pictures with Sorsby. In the first photo, the couple was captured mid-stride, holding hands.

The second picture showed candid shot of Sigman and Sorbsy standing side by side as the former Texas Tech quarterback looked down at her while Sigman looked back up at him affectionately with a smile. She had her hand gently resting near his arm.

Sigman wore a black tank top tucked into high-waisted, wide-leg black denim pants. Meanwhile, Sorsby wore a crewneck black t-shirt, light-wash blue jeans and white sneakers.

On Gretchen Sigman’s birthday, Brendan Sorsby wished her on Instagram story by reposting the Texas Tech volleyball star’s Little Black dress (LBD)-clad photo.

“Happy Birthday, beautiful, I love you,” he wrote in the caption.

In December, right around the exact same time Sorsby entered the transfer portal from Cincinnati, collegiate volleyball player Gretchen Sigman announced she was transferring to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

On Jan. 4, Sorsby made his transfer to Texas Tech official to take over as the program’s starting quarterback.

Sigman’s photodump on Sunday came after Sorbsy was released by Texas Tech on June 15. It ended his six-week legal war against the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference.

Brendan Sorby’s controvery dates back to April 27. Reports surfaced that a third-party betting operator flagged wagers, which kicked off an active NCAA investigation.

Reportedly, he placed thousands of online sports bets across a four-year span.In total, his wagers added up to roughly $90,000. Most critically, the investigation revealed that Brendan Sorsby had placed at least 40 wagers on Indiana University football during his 2022 redshirt freshman season while he was a member of the roster.

It led to Sorsby checking into a residential treatment program for his gambling addiction.

On May 18, the NCAA ruled Sorsby permanently ineligible for competition due to the severe nature of his gambling violations.

Subsequently, Sorsby’s legal team, led by attorney Jeffrey Kessler, requested the NCAA to reduce the permanent ban to a two-game suspension in the 2026 season.

On May 26, the NCAA denied Sorsby’s request.

On June 8, a Lubbock County District Court judge granted Brendan Sorsby a temporary injunction. The ruling would have allowed him to play in the 2026 season for Texas Tech. But he had to follow several conditions such as continuing addiction treatment and serving a minor two-game suspension.

In mid-June, a massive multi-front standoff began. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened legal action against the Big 12 if they penalize Sorsby. Meanwhile, the Big 12 Conference filed a federal 47-page legal complaint against Texas Tech and Paxton to protect their right to enforce league bylaws.

Amid the mounting pressure, Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech parted ways. Sorsby also dropped his lawsuit against the NCAA.

On Monday, Sorsby applied to enter the rarely used NFL Supplemental Draft. On Tuesday, the NFL denied Sorsby’s entry by issuing a letter to all 32 clubs. The league announced that they will not hold a supplemental draft in 2026.

Currently, Brendan Sorsby is barred from signing as a free agent or playing in the NFL in 2026 season. He was asked to focus on entering the NFL through the 2027 NFL Draft.
