Top Podcasts Hosted By Former Pro Women’s Soccer Players

Have you been following the journeys of former professional women’s soccer players? Many have found themselves analyzing and sharing their thoughts on the game in their own podcasts. Let’s see who is behind the mic nowadays.

    The RE-CAP Show

Hosted by two USWNT legends, Christen Press and Tobin Heath, the RE-CAP Show has proven to be both insightful and a fun listen. Not only do the two talk games with current and former players, but the two also expand their topics to much wider audiences as well. Heath and Press have been open about their marriage and relationship for quite some time now, so they use their platform as a form of activism for communities that they represent.

It’s such a delight to listen to them spread their joy and knowledge about women’s sports as a whole, but most definitely about soccer. Heath and Press are sure to make this Pride Month more vibrant than ever. Take a listen to them and celebrate the beauty of soccer and connection. Happy Pride!

    A Touch More

Megan Rapinoe will always be viewed as an icon. From her electric playing style to her vocalization of human rights issues, Rapinoe has never dimmed herself while in the spotlight. Now, she highlights various topics on her podcast that she previously hosted with Sue Bird called A Touch More. Similar to Heath and Press, Rapinoe brings on previous players to discuss ongoing topics in the game.

Rapinoe is legendary and popular for many reasons. She was able to chat with Emma Hayes recently. Before that, Rapinoe crossed the NWSL and WNBA worlds by hanging out and chatting with one half of the Stud Budz and Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams. There’s no telling what guess will pop up next, but just know with Rapinoe a good time is always guaranteed.

Laughter Permitted  & Welcome to the Party

USWNT 99er icon, Julie Foudy, has been behind the mic for a handful of years now. As a member of the ESPN staff, she hosted Laughter Permitted. She recorded a total of 12 seasons before her contract with ESPN was up. She moved on to Welcome to the Party with USWNT legend Abby Wambach and tennis trailblazer Billie Jean King.

The three’s intention with the podcast is to listen to the current state of women’s and men’s sports pioneers and legends. There is no doubt that each lineup is star-studded. Who can refuse to have a chat with either of the three hosts?!

    The Women’s Football Show

Lianne Sanderson, a former star for the Lionnesses, provides amazing analysis of all women’s soccer on her podcast. Sanderson discusses big games, big players, and big moments in the world of women’s soccer. She sits down with lots of managers to have a tactical angle when elaborating about key matches. Along with that, she brings on a lot of current players to provide overviews of upcoming matches or just to pick their brains about a match in general.

While this podcast is heavily centered on English women’s soccer, such as the UEFA and English Barclays WSL, major international tournaments also come into discussion as well. With the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup approaching in less than a year, Sanderson will have a lot to dissect and spill. We should expect insightful analysis and enlightening guests to appear when the 2027 FIFA WWC arrives. Keep an eye out and stay tuned for this one!

    Style of Play

Last but certainly not least, Style of Play is hosted by the legendary USWNT defender Julie Ertz and former NWSL star Kealia Watt. The two sit and discuss numerous topics, ranging from motherhood, entering the next phase of life after professional soccer, and even ongoing sports trends. They are both married to phenomenal NFL players also. Zach Ertz helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018, while J.J Watt was a longtime player for the Houston Texans.

Ertz and Watt make sure to keep the podcast interesting by having a variety of guests and topics. With their spouses being involved with professional football, the connections they have elevates the guests list even more so. It will be exciting to see who the two bring on as the FIFA World Cup continues and as the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup arrives.
