Escalating Nightmare are now easily the best Diablo 4 S14 grind for any kind of crafting mats: Gold, Obols, whatever you need! It still takes a bit of luck, but thanks to some War Plans changes, and Quality-of-Life updates to D4 as a whole, you can spend a little time farming in Escalating Nightmares to farm huge mountains of resources. You’re going to need plenty of gold, and other tuning/crafting items in Season 14, so why not do it the easy way?
We’ll tell you below everything you need to know, and before long, you’ll have more resources than you know what to do with in Diablo 4 S14, thanks to the power of Escalating Nightmares Sigils!
How to use Escalating Nightmares for an incredible crafting mat farm in Diablo 4 S14
Escalating Nightmares allow you to really grind for tons of crafting mats in Diablo 4 S14, and while this was the case in previous seasons, it wasn’t nearly as good as it is now. All you need to do is go down the middle of the War Plans upgrades tree, getting the upgrade Branching Pathways. This gives you two extra options at the end of an Escalating Nightmare section.

Instead of being forced to just take what it gives you, you can make informed decisions, and hopefully, get awesome gold finds (Vile Splendor), crafting materials (Materials Reserve), Gems (Gem type reserves), Murmuring Obols for gambling (Obols Reserve), and potentially maybe even Treasure Breach or Mythic Prankster.
Since Escalating Nightmares can show up on a War Plan in Diablo 4 S14, and they give tons of Nightmare Dungeon EXP, it’s worth it to do these when they show up, to not only farm crafting mats, but level up your War Plans.
If you don’t have any Escalating Nightmare sigils, you can throw five Nightmare Dungeon keys into the Horadric Cube, and craft them that way. If it’s a part of your War Plans, you can just jump into one for free.
Then, all you have to do is grind your way through each tier of the Escalating Nightmare, picking up all the loot along the path. One of the nice new features, is you can see the Horadric Chests/Caches on your mini-map, while exploring these dungeons. That’s new, and is a part of what makes this grind so worthwhile.

Instead of skipping them, because they’re hard to see, you can zoom around the map, collecting these while killing enemies, and get tons of crafting mats and gold! This grind also serves another master, because Astaroth, who awaits at the end, has a chance, like any other boss, to drop Lair Keys.
This can lead to Belial Ambushes in other bosses, which give you Superior Lair Keys. Then you get a shot at getting Mythic Uniques from the Corrupted Reaper. She’s also guaranteed to give you a Pandemonium Fragment from her cache, making it worth doing.
As you can see, it’s a very simple grind. Just push your way to the end, collecting all the rewards. The deeper you go, the better the rewards get, so you can easily get millions of gold without any real effort on your part!
