Josh Hokit recently shared his reaction to Alex Pereira speaking up about Michel Pereira getting cut from the UFC.
For context, the promotion removed Pereira from the middleweight roster in light of his unanimous decision loss against Shara Magomedov at UFC Baku last month. Pereira’s loss was widely considered controversial due to the referee, Herb Dean, seemingly overlooking Magomedov’s illegal moves. This loss notably marked the Brazilian fighter’s fourth defeat in his last five outings.
Given that ‘Poatan’ has his own gripes about Dean, perhaps it’s no surprise that he spoke up about Pereira getting cut from the UFC. In an Instagram post, Pereira shared a clip of his fellow Brazilian’s fight highlights and wrote:
“They could have sent this guy earlier, and maybe it would have been acceptable, but paying such a high price because of a refereeing mistake is impossible to accept! The UFC has already done, and continues to do, everything I ask within the organization’s reach. But it’s sad to see this and not be upset. Many athletes don’t say anything, but tomorrow it could be you going through this kind of situation, and there will be no point in sending me a message asking for help. It’s sad that not even the UFC has control over this, and because of that, our sport keeps being tarnished.”

In response, Hokit took to X and launched an attack on the former two-division UFC champion and wrote:
“He’s drinking again.”
Alex Pereira hints at retirement after UFC Freedom 250 loss
Alex Pereira lost to Ciryl Gane via second-round knockout at UFC Freedom 250 last month. In the aftermath, Pereira lambasted referee Herb Dean for not penalizing the Frenchman for his illegal back-of-the-head shots.
In an Instagram Story, Pereira reacted to Andre Fili complaining about Dean overlooking Vinicius Oliveira’s flagrant moves in the cage and wrote:
“Honestly, I’m afraid to go back to fighting with all this going on. I think I’ve already done my part.”
