Dustin Rhodes revealed he tried to get away from his TNT Title win
Dustin Rhodes had an emotional TNT Championship win at All In Texas last year. It was his first singles title win in the world of professional wrestling in almost two decades. However, The Natural recently revealed that he was trying to talk his way out of the championship way at All In.
Speaking with Tony Schiavone on What Happened When, Dustin Rhodes said that he believed Kyle Fletcher deserved the championship win more than him. However, Tony Khan insisted when he tried to give away that win. The former WWE star revealed that it was an unexpected incident that became one of the most heartwarming moments of his career.
“That day, I can’t explain it. It was not expected. Due to the circumstances, I understood. With the way they were building Kyle Fletcher, who is a machine and an unbelievable talent. I figured…I tried to talk Tony out of it. He said, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Okay.’ I had a little run with it. I only had one successful match against Moriarty, and the next one was Kyle Fletcher,” said Dustin. [H/T: Fightful]
Shortly after that victory, Dustin Rhodes dropped his championship to Kyle Fletcher on Collision. With that, it will be interesting to see if Rhodes will get any other TNT Championship wins in the coming years.
